Drone Photography & Video
Finding a drone pilot is pretty easy, but hiring one who is qualified to undertake commercial aerial drone filming and photography is critical. I have completed training allowing me to fly unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) or drones on a commercial basis. I have the CAA (Civil Aviation Authorities) PFAW (Permission For Aerial Work) licence meaning I have the necessary training and qualifications to carryout high quality, legal and safe aerial photography and video.
The use of drones for film production is helping filmmakers get shots which where only once possible using super expensive helicopters or aeroplanes. With a digital downlink directors can quickly asses aired shots saving time and money. Using a pilot and camera operator I can shoot footage at up to 4K (4096x2160). I can also edit the footage for the clients requirements.
Drones/UAV’s add a whole new dimension to photography. Previously unobtainable angled shots at exceptionally high quality are now a reality. A height of up to 400 metres gives a whole new perspective. I am able to produce stunning shots of property for marketing purposes, construction professionals wanting to showcase their latest work or even an overview of a memorable event.
I can provide a service for building owners to inspect awkward parts of buildings where other means of access may not be safe, appropriate or cost effective. Producing high resolution still images (36mp) and 4K video (4096x2160) meaning the need for access towers, cherry pickers and scaffolding a thing of the past. Drones can check for damage to high level areas including:- parapets, gutter, flat roofs, skylights, lead flashings & windows.
In the short time which I have been operating as a UAV/Drone operator I have performed work for a leading waterproofing membrane manufacturer, a roofing industry association, one of the UK’s leading building services specialist, a football club & the global leader of hard landscaping products.
DJI Inspire 1
The first is the cutting edge DJI Inspire 1 quadcopter. This small but fast and nimble aircraft offers dual control for both pilot and camera operator making it easier to get that important shot. It shoots in 4K video and offers live HD video downlink.
The largest of the fleet is the DJI S900 hexacopter. This professional grade drone gives the ability to get high resolution video and still photography cameras in the air. With this drone I can offer clients the choice of 4K (4096x2160) video and 36mp still photographs.
Planning & Safety
@photographic operate within CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) rules. I am trained to have CAA PFAW (Permission for Aerial Work). This is a requirement within the UK to operate drones for commercial purposes within UK airspace.
My flying limits are governed by the Civil Aviation Authority and I can fly 400ft above ground level and 500 meters radius of the pilot. I must also maintain a 50 metre distance from any structures or people who are not under my direct control.
I have specialist Drone insurance from Coverdrone and am insured with £5M public liabilities insurance for aerial work and follow strict risk assessment and flight procedure plans for each job I carry out. This helps ensure that each aerial job can be carried out in a safe and controlled manner.
Each Drone UAV project is different each with their own unique challenges. For each job I conduct a pre site survey using tools like google maps and aeronautical charts to understand the surrounding area of where the work will take place. To help with this please complete the form below explaining the requirements of the project, location (post codes are helpful) and your contact details. From this I will be able to give a quotation and sure up some dates, weather depending! Many thanks.
